Stacy Tuschl is a speaker, business coach, and the owner of The Academy of Performing Arts in Wisconsin. She is the author of the book “Is Your Business Worth Saving?” where she reveals proven strategies for pulling entrepreneurs out of a rut and launching them toward business success.

Today we’re going to be talking about the three steps that are really important when you are delegating. It’s not as simple as giving someone a list of things to do and they will magically have it delivered to you within 24 hours.

Some highlights include:

The first step is getting clear and organized with what you need to happen. If you don’t know what needs to get done, how is the other person you are trying to hold accountable supposed to know? (minute 1:00)

The second step is communicating with the person you are delegating with. You need to make sure you give them an opportunity to ask any questions before agreeing on it. Don’t make it one sided. (minute 3:00)

The third step is the follow up. When you come to an agreement, actually follow up at the time it’s supposed to be complete if you haven’t heard or received the completed project. Need some tools for keeping track and following up? At minute 4:00, I talk about the tools that I use.

I’ve recently been working on my media kit, and while working on it I’ve been thinking a lot about credibility. Of course we need credibility, but are we too focused on it? Today we’re going to be digging deep on this topic.

Some highlights include:

Credibility is all about someone else saying you’re amazing. Think about it. What would make you more likely to work with me? Would you do it because I said I’m amazing? Or would you rather hear that I’m amazing from one of my clients? (minute 1:00)

There was a time where I was very focused on winning an award with my dance studio. I wasted a lot of time working on winning an award that nobody cares about, and I lost. I should have been focused on gaining more customers. (minute 2:00)

Most people who go to your website won’t leave the home page. Anything that you want people to know about you, put on the home page. (minute 5:00)

Share what you need to be sharing with everyone because you never know when someone might be hearing or reading you for the first time. (minute 7:00)

You can leave out what you aren’t good at. Don’t lie, but don’t talk about what you’re not good at. You wouldn’t invite me over to your spotless kitchen and tell me your bedroom is messy. (minute 9:00)

We all deal with self-doubt, or the imposter syndrome. You know the feeling — why would anyone listen to me? Often when I’m talking with coaching clients or friends that are starting in business, this comes up, and I deal with it myself.

People always think I’m so confident and these questions don’t’ go through my mind. But believe me, oh my goodness, I can’t tell you enough how often I think these same things over and over again. Every time I achieve something, another amazing opportunity comes my way but I get nervous about what will people think.

So, today we’re going to be talking about getting out of your comfort zone to push the imposter syndrome aside.

Some highlights include:

My first business ever was starting a dance studio, and I was incredibly nervous about what people would say, especially because I had only been a dancer for three years when I started to teach it. I sucked it up, and now that business grosses over a million dollars a year. (minute 1:00)

I was also really nervous about writing my book. I was sure my friends and family would say“who is she to write a book?” In reality, they were really supportive, and now I’m an international bestseller. (minute 2:00)

“Am I really worth this?” The more you raise your rates, the better clientele you get to work with. So, as much as you think you aren’t worth the higher price — you are. (minute 3:00)

It is really important to understand the value of hiring experts, like coaches, copywriters, and designers. I used to think that I could never spend $500/month on a coach. I thought that I had too much to invest in, and I just couldn’t afford one. But what I realized — and thankfully at a young age — was I can’t afford not to have a coach. (minute 6:00)

“I’ve gone through a lot of struggle in my life.” At minute 7:00, Eric talks about why going through struggles has made him a better, stronger entrepreneur.

You can do it, but you shouldn’t. At minute 9:00, Eric talks about learning that he needs to delegate things away after learning his limitations.

There’s a reason we talk about work-life balance. At minute 12:00, Eric talks about why we have to look at work-life balance from a distance to truly see it in action.

“I love talking to people.” At minute 22:00, Eric talks about what he loves about his business right now as well as entrepreneurship in general.

I’m so excited for today’s episode because it has been a little over a week and half since my book launched and I want to share a little bit of the behind the scenes with you. It did phenomenally well — better than I could have ever imagined. With over 12,200 downloads, we hit #1 in several categories. And not just in the US but in other countries as well which makes the book a #1 international bestseller. It feels so good to be on the other side of my first book launch, let me tell you. In today’s episode, I’m going to dive into this book launch.

Some highlights include:

If you want your book to be a bestseller, you need to get ratings and reviews of your book. At minute 3:00, I talk about how I did this with my book.

In June, I went to a conference and met someone from a company called Epic Launch. At minute 5:00, I talk about why I hired them to help me get my book launched.

I’m not a writer or a designer, and I knew I needed help with my book. I hired what is called a collaborative writer, and at minute 6:00, I talk about how Amy Anderson, my writer, was able to get a lot out of me and help me create my book. I also talk about working with Erica Jennings, my designer.

At minute 8:00, I talk about the very specific launch strategy that got my book to become a #1 international bestseller. This segment includes an explanation as to why I made my book free when it first launched.

It has been a crazy week. My book launched on Tuesday, and I can’t wait to share more results with you next week.

Something that has played a huge role in my book launch is the relationships that I have built, so today we are going to talk about building relationships.

Some highlights include:

When my book launched, I created a list of over 100 people that I personally reached out to and asked for their support. I didn’t send them a mass email. I sent them each a real email directly from me. At minute 1:00, I talk about why this is a good strategy.

A way to save time with your email is what Gmail calls “canned responses.” At minute 3:00, I explain exactly what these are and what you should do to utilize them to their fullest potential.

When I hang up from a call with a potential coaching client, I immediately send them a follow-up email. This email contains a canned response with details that I send to every potential client, but I include specific things from our call to make this much more personal. (minute 5:00)

Don’t think that I am anti-email autoresponder. You absolutely have to have one. I send out something to my list every week and whenever I have something that I need my full list to know about. Take my book launch for example. At minute 7:00, I talk about how to use this kind of software effectively.

Facebook has been one of my top sources for networking. At minute 8:00, I share several tips for how to use Facebook to build relationships.

Today we’re going to be talking about credibility. Someone recently asked me whether or not they need to have a book published before they will have the opportunity to get on stage. This person doesn’t necessarily want to be a speaker, but they do want to be seen as an expert in their industry. So, today we are going to cover the different levels of credibility, what you need to do before you get started, and then how to make sure you don’t get overlooked.

Some highlights include:

We all need credibility, but it comes in different forms. For example, being an author is different from being a bestselling author. And they’re both different from being a New York Times bestselling author. (minute 1:00)

Your experience is what will build your credibility. At minute 2:00, I discuss how I got people to be on my podcast as well as how I’ve been able to make appearances on some high profile podcasts.

Get ready to hear no from a lot of people. At minute 3:00, I talk about why 100 rejections for every acceptance is not a bad ratio at all.

Change the story you tell about yourself. At minute 5:00, I talk about why the story that I was sharing to promote myself just didn’t make an impact on other people and how I’ve changed it so people are always wowed.

So, do you need to write a book to get speaking gigs? At minute 7:00, I answer this question.
